Canada's Best Places to Live 2011 - Ottawa is #1 again according to Money Sense Magazine

For the second year in a row, Ottawa-Gatineau takes the top spot in the rankings at Money Sense Magazine. What does it have that other cities don’t? In a word, consistency. It does not rank particularly high in any individual category but it comes in above average across the board. It has jobs, accessible doctors, low crime, and household incomes and real estate are not drastically misaligned. There is a wealth of museums and galleries keep the culture-lover occupied, and the hostile winters are balanced out by beautiful summers.

Ottawa ‘world leader’ of new economy

TORONTO — The city of Ottawa, with its well-educated, service-oriented workforce, is ideally suited to a new vision of Ontario’s economy unveiled Thursday by two of the world’s leading scholars.

Urban theorist Richard Florida, author of the global best-selling book The Rise of the Creative Class, said Ottawa “is a world leader” in the ascent of what he calls a new, creative economy.

Ottawa's Top High Schools - 2007 Fraser Report Ratings - Choosing a good location for your home often entails locating near the best schools.  How do you find out where they are?  That's not an easy process but the 2007 Fraser Institute report is out and has made an attempt at rating the high schools across Ontario including Ottawa.  Note that some private schools do not provide data so may not be rated and note reports in the articles that Ontario doesn't collect as much relevant data as do some of the other provinces.
